Very alarming but not too surprising. The number of active traders of Heroclix figures has been waning. The speed that sets were updated continued to be good so I was hopeful that all was good. A few months ago, I tried to communicate with the website management to see if I could pay for advertising as I thought that might be the best way to increase traffic. I got no response. Today I came on to the website to figure out if I could promote Miniaturetrading.com through Facebook trade groups by offering to pay 3 month subscriptions to get people to try it out.
I really love what MT offers: an website to keep track of your collection, easily sync up your haves and wants with other users, and manage the trade to completion. When I trade on Facebook, I have to take pictures of figs I am offering, list out my wants, take picture of shipping receipts and post positive feedback on to another (2nd) FB group, and lookup potential traders to check if they have positive feedback. I am really posting this to the converted but the point I want to make is that the infrastructure for easy trading is built, it just needs better marketing.
At a glance, it looks like CardMarket business model is based more on buying and selling and collecting a commission on the transactions. That being said, they may not have need for the code of MT. Perhaps they would be interested in selling it? I am open to investing in that purchase but would need someone with the technical skills to install and keep it up.
