Subject: "New comments" marker on reviews and armies   PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 12:53 pm Reply with quote

Would it be possible to add some sort of marker/indicator to show if a review or army(fleet) has received a new comment since your last visit, similar to how the forums show there are new posts in a thread?

There are frequently questions/comments that go unanswered simply because no one else knows they've been posted. I know it's possible to subscribe to a review, but it would be a lot more useful to have generic indicators right there on the list of reviews than to have to subscribe to every single one (which the vast majority of people are not going to do).

---------

On a related note, is there some way to list all of the review/army comments that have been left by a single user? (Like how you can list all forum posts and threads by a user.)

Chime me in as agreeing with this one!

Comments? I don't think so. You can find all of the armies/reviews they have created, but not what comments someone has left on a review or army without going to each and every review/army.

Why? Is there someone you're looking for?

This one I can answer, if you go to the members profile you will see a link to all armies/reviews they have created.
That only shows the reviews/armies they've posted. I'm looking for a way to list all of the comments/replies they've left on other reviews (or even their own).

Taking that a step even further, since ratings are now public information it would also be nice to be able to get a list of everything someone has rated and the ratings they've given.

Comments?

Whoops I missed that one word, and that changed the entire meaning of the question, sorry.

No one in particular, but since avatars aren't visible in reviews the comments by some of the newer users tend run together (especially when they have similarly atrocious grammatical styles), so it would be easier to look for patterns of behavior and would help with accountability in general.

With certain other people, it would be helpful to writers to be able to see all of their past comments. For example, LordStu's comments are almost always filled with great information that would be helpful to anyone writing reviews, not just the person he's directly replying to at the time.

From my own position, it would also be nice to quickly go back and check how many times I've had to correct the same person on a particular rule, like how flotillas, point reducers, or links actually work (just to name a few that have been repeated several times recently).

You could subscribe to a review or army and whenever a comment is made, you'll be notified via email. I do that for my own reviews so I know if someone called me out on a mistake I made.

I am subscribed to all of my own, but that doesn't help with finding previous comments posted under other reviews. This site already provides the ability to list all forum posts by a user, so I can't image it being that difficult to enable the same thing for review comments - unless that uses a completely different system that only looks like the forums.

Even if listing that information isn't possible, it would still be really helpful to have an indicator to show which reviews or armies in the list have received new comments.

The "subscribe to a review" system is broken, you can find my reasons for why in the reviews suggestion thread. I geuss nobody looked at that thread, since people were planning much bigger things than a indicator when new comments/edits have been made to a review...
