Subject: 2017 Miniature Review of the Year   PostPosted: Tue Dec 26, 2017 2:19 am Reply with quote

I picked out the top reviews of the year based on vote scores (these have gotten exclusively 5's so far), with no more than one MR per member. Ties went to the review by that member with the most 5's. Here they are just sorted by submission date. The poll is set to run for 3 weeks, so it should end on 1/15.

The candidates:

Colonial Trader
Brazenly Bad

Revenant
Revisiting a classic gunship

HMS Clear Wind
The English counterpart of La Bonne Chance

USS Albany
Big bad capital ship

Commodore Peregrine Stern
A Stern Face to Sink 1000 Ships

Jack Hawkins
Turning to the Barbary Way - A Story

I really liked the Revenant review. I agree with what you posted in the thread about it complimenting the 'story reviews'. I have almost as much fun reading the stuff, as I do playing it.

Are you referring to me or repkosai? Just doesn't ring a bell for me - with almost 5,000 posts here, perhaps it slipped my mind. Laughing

That was a fun review contest, I'd hope that forum folk would consider writing more narrative oriented reviews. It adds some spice to the reviews section, which can get a bit dull from time to time.

As for this poll, I think I'm going to vote for Volt's Jack Hawkins review, it's quickly become one of my favorite reviews to read, and I've gone over it several times since the contest ended.

I'm honored to have a review make the list. I'm not sure if I should vote at all, though, considering the vested interest...

Edit: I voted Revenant, since voting for my own is silly.

Congratulations to repkosai for his review of the Revenant, which is the Miniature Review of the Year for 2017!
