If this ship is inside a fog bank, once per turn you may eliminate one of this ship's crew to place an iceberg from outside the game so that it touches this fog bank. This iceberg can move normally as per the iceberg rules.

That seems like it clears things up, and gets across the general ability.

Cool, I may change it to that. I suppose having the icebergs originate inside the fog bank just causes needless confusion and doesn't even really add that much value thematically.

Meh, have another. XD

Fiery Coral
Faction Affiliation: Mercenary
Rarity: C
Type: Ship
Point Value: 8
Number of Masts: 2
Cargo Space: 2
Base Move: S+L
Cannons: 3S,3S
Ability: Mercenary. Firepot Specialist. This ship ignores reefs. This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls when she's touching a reef or within S of a reef.

Flavor: The strange crew of this ship have a passion for making the coral reefs of the South Pacific "come alive" with the terror of fire at sea. Covering a vast expanse of ocean, they delight in causing chaos where the law doesn't exist.

Continuing the South Pacific theme among my Merc stuff, I could definitely see this being one of the God Chieftain's "goon ships". XD

Anything that causes terrain to overlap is just asking for trouble. Placing it nearby works okay.

So does it ignore reefs or not? Razz

Go with "...ignores damage from reefs" instead.

OK, fixed both!

Raven's Rage
Faction Affiliation: Mercenary
Rarity: U
Type: Ship
Point Value: 14
Number of Masts: 4
Cargo Space: 4
Base Move: S+L
Cannons: 3L,3L,2S,5S
Ability: Mercenary. Schooner. Pirate and Cursed crew can use their abilities on this ship.
Link: Darnosi

Flavor: Captained by the hateful Darnosi, the Raven's Rage swiftly sails to attack and maim. With a flair for the illegal, Darnosi's tactics have attracted a wide variety of villainous characters to help him fill out a crew.

Darnosi
Mercenary
Crew - Common
8 points
Ability: Ex-Patriot. Captain. Massacre.
Link: Raven's Rage

Flavor: Yet another giant of a man hailing from the southwestern Pacific, Darnosi is a true mercenary. He thrives on warfare and will go to the highest bidder regardless of what unspeakable things they ask him to do.

I think I finally finished that long chain of pirate crew! XD

Historical Custom of the Day #136

Philip Fitzgerald
Pirate
Crew
3 points
Ability: Hostile: England. This ship gets +1 to her die rolls against the English. Spanish crew can use their abilities on this ship.
Link: Jelles de Lecat, Jan Reyning (both made already)

You could make a case for 2 points, but the English are one of the better factions in the game (and it's for all die rolls not just cannons against ships for example) and there are a ton of great Spanish crew (custom or otherwise) that the Pirates get access to here.

Coming at you today is SAS operator Sledge, Team Rainbows window/wall breaching specialist and resident Scot. Sledge is a simple man, with a simple gadget. His breaching hammer can punch large holes in un-reinforced walls and instantly break doorway and window barricades without him being directly in the way. He carries the same weapons as Thatcher minus the AR33 and plus a MAC11 sidearm. He wears a dark blue SAS jumpsuit, Black tac vest, and a gas mask unapologetically exposing his chrome dome (no, he does not wear a kilt). He also carries his Hammer on his back.

HMS Sledge
British
4 Mast
PV: 15
Masts: 3S,3L,3L,3S
Movement: S+S
Cargo: 4
Artwork: Dark blue hull with a tartan stripe, light gray pinstripe sails, brown deck
Ability: This ship immediately removes a mast after ramming an enemy ship, this ship cannot be pinned. This ship immediately sinks an enemy once its last mast is eliminated.

Flavor Text: The Scottish crew of the Sledge have a fondness for wonton destruction. They are known for outright sinking ships rather than take them as prizes for the crown.

Is that in addition to normal ramming damage, or does it just mean the ram is always successful without rolling?

I think an almost complete rewrite would be necessary for this one.

"This ship always does damage by ramming. This ship cannot be pinned. If this ship eliminates the final mast from an enemy ship, that ship sinks immediately."

-The first part doesn't specify which ship gets a mast taken off. It sounds like the Sledge is the one losing a mast.
-Second ability already exists and should be its own sentence as a result.
-Final ability also doesn't make 100% clear which ship the "last mast" is coming from - does the enemy ship sink once the Sledge's final mast is eliminated?

Assuming the last ability refers to the enemy ship and not the Sledge, I think this could be abused mightily with how powerful that is. It really makes oarsmen and other tactics obsolete. If you want to keep the cost down, I think "this ship cannot tow enemy ships" would work better.

#023
Venom
Points: 20
Masts: 4
Cargo: 0
Cannons: 3S-4S-4S-3S
Movement: S+S
Ability: Sea Monster. If this ship wins a boarding party eliminate all of the other ships crew and up to two masts from the enemy ship.

Flavor: It is said that wherever Ehlek is, this serpent is not far behind or ahead. What it's connection to the fearsome Barraki is is unclear.

It's tomorrow where I am, and I feel like posting. Very Happy So we've got not one, not two, but three pieces!

#024
Artaka Serpent
Points: 20
Masts: 4
Cargo: 0
Cannons: 3S-2S-2S-3S
Movement: L
Ability: Sea Monster. Give this ship a shoot action. A fireball S wide and S+S long leaves this ship in one direction. Replace up to two masts or segments with fire masts for every ship in the path of the fireball. This ship cannot be given actions for turns equal to the total number of ships affected.

Flavor: This beast is legend among the Ionic people, said to have been the only living creation of their craftsman god, Artaka. More practical minds suggest that it is merely an ancient beast, though even they admit that it's ability to somehow use light as a weapon is hard to explain.

#025
Masan
Points: 18
Ionic
Masts: 4
Cargo: 3
Cannons: 2S-3L-3L-2S
Movement: L
Ability: Titan. This titan cannot be given fire masts. SAT.

Flavor: The Masan is legendary in Ionic myth and folklore. It is said to live in the hearts of volcanoes, and its claws could break ships in two. More disturbing is that its savage nature is said to mask a human level intelligence.

#026
Ussal
Points: 14
Ionic
Masts: 4
Cargo: 5
Cannons: 3S-3L-3L-3S
Movement: S+S
Ability: Titan.

Flavor: According to Ionic myth, there were once many ussal, both in the sea and on the land, and they lived harmoniously with the people, as pets and beasts of burden. As time went on, the Ussal began to disappear, until only one remained.

Powerful, but the negative seems bad enough to keep the cost about right.

Hmm. This is unlike any Titan we've seen before, and to me it seems underpriced. I'm not sure where I would price it, but 14 feels too low.

~~~~~
Durg (The Destroyer)
Mercenary
Crew - Common
9 points
Ability: Ex-Patriot. Sac. When this ship hits an enemy ship, also eliminate one cargo from that ship.
Flavor: A large and vicious man, Durg has built a fearsome reputation raiding from the coasts of Australia all the way to northern Japan. Nicknamed "The Destroyer", he simply takes pride in his destructive capabilities.
I know he could be 8 points, but I'm "overpricing" him on purpose since allowing all the factions to use abilities like this is iffy to begin with... not to mention, both of his main abilities could be multiple points more expensive.
Historical Custom of the Day #137
John Fenn
Pirate
Crew
3 points
Ability: Helmsman. Oarsman. English ships get +1 to their cannon rolls against this ship.
Link: Morning Star, Bartholomew Roberts, Thomas Anstis
Morning Star
Faction Affiliation: Pirate
Rarity: C
Type: Ship
Point Value: 9
Number of Masts: 2
Cargo Space: 5
Base Move: S+S
Cannons: 2L,3S
Ability: None.
Hmm. Not sure if the trade off is worth it, since he essentially just saves you a cargo space. Also the English have great gunships, so boosting them is exponentially worse for you. Shouldn't his price be lower as well, at least by a point? At 2 he might be useable, and unless you're playing faction only and the English are not involved I think this guy is kind of useless.
Todays custom is inspired by the Italian GIS operator Alibi. Maestros female counterpart, she is a fast guerilla like defensive character armed with three devices that project a static image of her. This trick can fool enemies into shooting it, but when the bullets pass through, their position is revealed. She can also stand in their place to pretend to be the image and really mess with enemy players. Smart Alibi players can set up convincing traps that bait even the most cautious attackers. Her low damage but laser beam like MX4 Storm is her preferred weapon, but also has access to the AA12 auto shotgun and two hand cannons. She wears a green shirt and body armor with vegetata pants and a red beret and mask.
Alibi
3 Mast Schooner
Spanish
PV: 14
Masts: 2S,3L,2S
Movement: S+L
Cargo: 3
Artwork: Vegetata hull, dark green deck, red sails.
Ability: Schooner. If this ship is hit this turn, all friendly ships get +1 to their cannon rolls against that enemy ship this turn (this cannot be stacked if she is hit multiple times).
Flavor Text: The Italian Alibi is a master of disguise, so that when her unsuspecting foes arrive to investigate her, she quickly signals to her allies that a ship has taken the bait.
Still trying to find a better way to word it, but essentially if she is hit by any ship, all friendly ships get +1 to their cannon rolls against it, and if she is hit twice, it doesn't become +2. Like her video game character, this ship was designed to be just as annoying to deal with (like deciding to shoot at something that looks like her in the video game, is it worth it to do so? Or will I be screwing myself?).
I definitely don't think his price should be lower; negative faction-based abilities aren't as bad as Wizkids thought. I think he's very useful actually. A gold runner that wants a helmsman and oarsman anyway could use him instead and get 2 abilities that don't take up any cargo space.
Ulnar Lesion
Mercenary
Crew - Common
8 points
Ability: Ex-Patriot. Cannoneer. World Hater. [This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls against any ship.]
Flavor: Often seen in the employ of the Cursed, this evil menace hates everyone. He enjoys causing pain and suffering, and doubly enjoys it when he's getting paid a hefty sum to inflict it.
He might get a link at some point. Going with 5 for the "complete" version of world hater that we don't see too often. This guy doesn't have allegiance or morals.
EDIT: Once again my Epic Seas set is completely spiraling out of control. Shocked XD I'm exaggerating a bit, but once again I've gone on a creative tear and have a ton of new ideas. Some already fleshed out, many not. Some of the ideas are so crazy and excessive that I might be going too far in terms of the "epicness". XD It's going to be madness, and the set is going to be huge.
#027
Visorak
Points: 16
Nationality: Ionic
Masts: 4
Cargo: 4
Cannons: 4L-4S-4S-4L
Movement: S+L
Ability: Cancelling.
Flavor: The captain of the Visorak believes that mention of his ships name causes fear and crews to give up their gold, when in actuality it is the hard work of his own crew. His overconfidence and ego have lead him to believe that he is actually a commander of the actual spiders; he is in for a rude awakening.
There's a name I recognize; I read the Web of the Visorak book way back in the day. Though I preferred the earlier/original stuff. Cool ship overall.
