General description:
The Wizard is a figure who has not seen an update in many, many years. I do not know if anyone out there remembers back as far as Sinister set - we are talking over 35 full sets back, twice that plus if you include everything - but it was a fairly decent set release. This was the set that we got the balance of the original Frightful Four figures finally. The Wizard, being their leader - in most incarnations of the team - it was about time; even then.
The Frightful Four is kind of an integral part of the Marvel fold, being the antithesis of the Fantastic Four - Marvels first super team. I have always had a particular interest in this squad. The Wizard especially, as he was kind of an unknown element at the time I got into the FF story lines. I really like the characters that have comprised the Frightful Four over the years, Sandman, Medusa, Thundra, Deadpool, and yes, even Past-Pot-Pete, the Trapster.
Even going back as far as the day of the initial release of Sinister, the Frightful Four could not be played to any effect without the use of the Wizard. Preferably at Veteran level, and no less than Experienced to really be competitive. His TK, Mind Control, Outwit, and Perplex make for all the meat of the bad FF's squad. He is very weak as far as today's game is concerned, though he has not seen an update, as i said, since Sinister. If you want to play the Frightful Four, you have to use the Sinister Trapster and Wizard to actually field an accurate squad. Almost all of the other members of the squad have either gotten updates, or have had issues in the modern era.

My main use, and the only one that I think is worth mentioning, is of course that of fielding the comic accurate squad of the Frightful Four. If you are playing a game where scientists are involved, and there is a lot of support pieces necessary, then even in today's game Wizard can be of use. He is not competitive without major back-up in today's game though.

Strategies and game play:
Whether you used him back in the day, or even now, his dial only relegates him to support, thirdly-type attacker roles. He can be of even greater use if you can afford to slap a 20 point brilliant tactician on him.

Combos with other miniatures:
I have never used him in any other combination than that of a Frightful Four team variant. I did once consider using him on a scientist team, but dropped him in favor of a more useful piece.

Ways to counteract it:
The standard Outwit and a heavy hitter scoring 2 hits on him usually does the trick. He is not suited to close combat in most cases.

Mentioned above.

Artwork and aesthetics:
His sculpt is rather poignant, if rather dull in appearance. I cannot say for sure what I think is needed to 'spice him up', but I don't think they need to do much, maybe just a slight action element added to his current representation, I don't know.

Overall rating:
Overall, I would rate this figure at a 4 - 5, and if we can ever get a reissue, i would hope they did as good a job as the first time round.

Having posted this review almost a year ago, and having gotten no reviews of any kind - let alone a reissue of the figure in question - I can only say, that about says it all for the site/game.
