This is for the Acorazado Challenge.

------
Thomas Gunn peered through the periscope, frantically wiping the blood that was dripping off his lacerated forehead. Moments later it dropped to the floor.

His crew was frantically repairing the last damage to the main mast of the Victor, as Gunn stammered up to the helm. How could they all be gone? Every capital ship was now sinking to the locker. Maybe the Catholics knew something he didn't... maybe the Gods themselves protected that blasted ship.

He looked out to sea. The flotsam was everywhere, but in the retreat stood a handful of small ships that still looked sea worthy. Yet only one looked to be as large as the Victor.

He couldn't run, he had to do as much damage as he could here, and now. The ship had to be stopped. Desperate times called for desperate measures. He signaled one of his men to load the special equipment he had on board, and told another to signal the other ships.

It was the only thing he could think of. The godforsaken ship might be impossible to sink, but it was surely made of wood...

------

I had a lot of fun coming up with this fleet, and while it might certainly lose, I think it would be fun to play. I drew even more satisfaction picking one ship from 5 different nationalities.

In a perfect situation, all ships with firepots/explosive shot would move in to fire at the same time (although the Lion would have to wait since it has no captain). At the same time, the Glorious Treasure would attempt to ram. This would hopefully force a decision on the Spanish's part - who to cancel, and the choice should be the Treasure's ability. As a result, hopefully the firepots will hit, and although Vega will block the first one, the rest will get through and ignore the Acorazado's ability. In addition, if the Spanish have a firemast while it takes an extra action, it triggers the roll again.

This would repeat as much as possible. If it still survives, the Maryland would probably go in for ram as well, making it very bad if the Treasure is still alive since it can't cancel both ship abilities.

Obviously, this will all go downhill fast if the Spanish get a jump from a double action and get the first shot and take out a ship or two, or if the firepots miss. The Victor will try to take lead, since it has the built in Shipwright, but eventually the fleet will have to chance the Acorazado NOT getting the double action.

I toyed with trying to bring in a smokepot or canceller, but went with the theme more. My second fleet will go that route =)

Thanks for the challenge!

Wow, very unique and interesting entry! I didn't expect to see so many small ships, especially the Fortune and Fidel Zuan!?

Nice job - we'll soon see how it fares.

In truth, I picked the Fortune because I wanted L guns, but then realized firepots are S by definition. Too tired to change now, as I could switch with something with a 2L gun most likely. I am already up too late lol

I'm sad to say this fleet was able to beat El Acorazado.
