Ship #1
The Revenant is the lead gunship of the fleet. This spot used to be occupied in the fleet by L'Hercule , but Rev just seems like (pardon the expression) more bang for your buck here. EDIT: As much as I liked Captain Mission on this boat, I will admit the 7 point cost was a bit steep. Crewed out more traditionally with Captain/Helmsman, I added a Cannoneer, on the off chance she should miss with a shot from a R-2 cannon in a clutch situation.

Ship #2
I like Commodore Edward Preble . So much so, I've added the Yankee , my only American ship, to this fleet, adding a helmsman for added maneuverability.

Ship#3
The Black Pearl, serving as an exceptional flagship. Moving L+S+S, with some nasty long-range cannons. As an added bonus, Gentleman Jocard and Marty can all be sacrificed to Captain Blackheart's ability without the ship losing anything at all, which gives you two 'double action turns' banked from the very beginning. EDIT: I bow to the wisdom of a7xfanben here, using a spare point to add a sacrificial Oarsman to the Pearl.

Ship #4
My treasure runner in this fleet. The Morning Star lets me fly out at lightning speed, especially if I roll a 5 or 6 for Admiral Alarico Castro

Ship #5
Ah, Thomas Gunn. Captain, Helmsman, maker of fine wines... maybe. As it turns out, I have the HMS Gibraltar , which turns into a nasty little runner with Gunn on board, still cpapable of carrying two treasures if needed. Admittedly, adding this ship was a tough call for me, as this spot used to be for El Leon , the first ship I ever built. EDIT: I don't know how I missed this ship the first time I sat down to work on this fleet. I still have a soft spot in my heart for pesky ships like the HMS Lord Cauldwell , The Gibraltar's move of S+S+S+S should let this weave through just about anything the oceans (and opposing fleets) can throw at it, and can hold its own in short range combat, to boot!

This is super interesting to me because it's a look at how someone builds their fleet in a not-as-typical fashion.

Normally I'd definitely want a captain and helmsman on the Revenant, even if it meant giving up Mission. I do like Mission, but the extra action only lets you move-and-shoot once in a while, and his other ability is only protecting one other crew.

The Yankee isn't a ship I've ever liked, but between her brilliance in Xerecs' latest 2017 Campaign session (Battle Reports thread) and her reasonable overall stats, I'm starting to notice her more. Preble is great at this point limit, and here I like that the Yankee looks like an all-purpose ship: enough cargo left to load or steal some gold, but large enough to cause some damage in various ways.

The Black Pearl setup is better now that you aren't wasting points on The Stump, but it's definitely atypical. I'd still want to fill out the ship's cargo with sacrificial 1 point oarsmen to maximize how many double actions the Pearl can receive. Still, perhaps you're trying to use the BP as a kind of hybrid since she has 2 spaces open, in which case carry on!

The MS is set up nicely. You don't see 0LR +5 crew on gold runners a lot, but here it works great between the MS's potential speed and her durability.

Nice use of Thomas Gunn - I understand you might not have the ship, but the HMS Lord Kenyon gives 2 more cargo spaces and otherwise has the same stats (they should have made the LK more unique haha). With Gunn aboard she'd have 3 spaces with that same durability, for a nice hybrid option.

Glad to see you get into the fleet game! Based on how you play and your collection, I'd rate this about a 4 right now. (generally a 3 for me when compared to highly competitive fleets)
