I've always believed that 5 masters are underrated as potential hybrids or even as gold runners. Many have as many cargo spaces as they have masts, and therefore you'd have 3 spaces open even after adding a captain and helmsman. This fleet takes that idea to a higher level, using as little crew as possible to make "armed merchants" capable of getting gold, defending it from hostile pirates and other nations, and being durable enough that even if their guns don't tell against more accurate opponents, they still have a chance to return home intact.

The Aberdeen Baron is the most exemplary ship that fits the theme. After Gold comes aboard (the girl, not the treasure - you're completely obsessed! ), she'll have all 3 basic abilities at her disposal.

The Morning Star is the slowest of the trio and could get into trouble between the presence of a Ransom crew and her self-sabotaging ability. However, this fleet wouldn't be complete without her, and she's a great value for the points.

The Santa Isabel's cannons are almost too good for her "merchant" role, but her ability and flavor text find her a fit in this fleet. You could swap Amore and the explorer for potentially increased protection.

I wanted to involve the French somehow to complete the triumvirate of imperial superpowers, but arming the Libellule seems pointless and I wanted ships with 4+ masts with at least 6 cargo.

The hope is that Amore's "amor" can distract Zuan from harming HGold in case the latter can't resist her piratical urges. (Yes, Thomas Gunn would be more convenient, but he's off fighting the French again)

Thanks for looking at the fleet!

Captain, Helmsman.

Conscripted to the English for acts of piracy, Hermione uses her tremendous skills as a captain and helmsman to keep her employers happy in their battle against those who oppose the Crown. But it is her knack for piracy (under the good Union Jack) that keeps the crew very, very happy.

Section: Ship #2 (3 miniatures)
1 x Contessa Anita Amore Contessa Anita Amore (PofCC)
  • Collector's Number: 060
  • Faction Affiliation: Spain
  • Rarity: C
  • Type: Crew
  • Point Value: 0
Miniature text:

Limit, Ransom. Place this crew face up during setup. You may build your fleet using 5 more points than the build total. This crew cannot leave this ship unless it is captured or eliminated.

After two nearly fatal "accidents" at home (possibly arranged by her husband's children, all older than she), the lovely Contessa Anita decided that it might be prudent to take a long trip until her husband passes away and she inherits everything. She has been seen in the company of both Comandante Luis and the pirate Jack Hawkins.

1 x Luis Zuan Luis Zuan (RotF)
  • Collector's Number: 022
  • Faction Affiliation: Spain
  • Rarity: R
  • Type: Crew
  • Point Value: 2
Miniature text:

Eliminate one of this ship’s masts when she rolls a 1 on any cannon roll.

When the pirate crew of the Morning Star were captured by the Spanish fleet, they were hung from the yardarm, after which the ship was sold to a merchant who ignored the captain’s cries for new guns and provided clean, new sails instead.

Schooner. One of this ship's treasures is worth +2 gold when unloaded at your home island.

With her gilded hull and polished cannons, La Santa Isabel is a throwback to the days when Spain ruled the seas. Now, she is reduced to trading between the colonies and Spain.

1 x El Castillo del Infanta El Castillo del Infanta (PofCC)
  • Collector's Number: 063
  • Faction Affiliation: Spain
  • Rarity: C
  • Type: Fort
  • Cannons: 4L-4L-4L-4L-4L
Miniature text:

Gold Cost: 3

Once per turn, one of this fort's cannons may shoot again if it misses.

El Castillo del Infanta (Castle of the Princess) was designed to protect Lady Arcadia De Sol from the wicked world around her. Her father spared no expense, including hiring the best and most determined gunners, but ultimately it was all for naught, because the lovely lady's own desires were stronger than the stone walls constructed by her father.

1 x El Puerto Blanco El Puerto Blanco (PofCC)
  • Collector's Number: 064
  • Faction Affiliation: Spain
  • Rarity: C
  • Type: Fort
  • Cannons: 3L-3L-3L
Miniature text:

Gold Cost: 3

A ship docked at this fort may use its action for the turn to look at one face-down treasure on each island.

The Escuela de Cartografia in Puerto Blanco is home to one of the greatest map collections in the world. There are legends that the maps from the library of Alexandria in ancient Egypt reside in its amazing vaults. Tended by a monastic order of mysterious origin, the thousands of maps are rumored to include the map to El Dorado.

1 x Fort Brompton Fort Brompton (PofCC)
  • Collector's Number: 047
  • Faction Affiliation: England
  • Rarity: C
  • Type: Fort
  • Cannons: 3L-3L-3L-3L
Miniature text:

Gold Cost: 3

This fort gets +1 to its cannon rolls when a ship is docked at it.

Fort Brompton is constantly short on soldiers, especially gunnery crews. Many rumors try to explain this from cannibals on the island to seduction by the native girls, but the truth may simply be that the strategically placed fort has seen more than its share of deadly combat.

1 x Fortaleza Dorada Fortaleza Dorada (PofR)
  • Collector's Number: 045
  • Faction Affiliation: Spain
  • Rarity: C
  • Type: Fort
  • Cannons: 3S-3S-3S-3S-3L-3L
Miniature text:

Gold Cost: 5

L-range cannons cannot hit this fort.

The Spanish claim it doesn't exist. Yet natives can be persuaded to speak of the "Golden Fortress," the apparent source of the Spanish gold flowing along the Crimson Coast.

1 x Ramsgate Ramsgate (PofR)
  • Collector's Number: 038
  • Faction Affiliation: England
  • Rarity: C
  • Type: Fort
  • Cannons: 3L-3L-3L-3L-3L
Miniature text:

Gold Cost: 4

This fort has one 2 L-range cannon. When placing this fort, indicate this cannon by placing two flags side by side.

The first fort that Rogers commissioned boldly declares this message: "This land and the sea around it belong to the English Crown."
