This is my fleet entry for the "Uncommon Fleet Challenge".

I decided to use the Spanish and make a gold focused fleet.

The goal behind this fleet is to get lots of gold (and then generate more) with the Native Canoes, La Santa Isabel, and El Almquista. With all of the +2 (and possibly +1) gold bonuses this should allow the fleet to rack up gold very quickly.

The Native Canoes would start out on a critical Wild Island (but still far enough away from the enemies Home Island not to die right away) then move away and dock to Explore the next turn. With there being no Uncommon Explorers in this Challenge, getting to islands fast will be important. Once they're loaded up they will head back home to transfer treasure to La Santa Isabel and El Almquista. Once those ships are full any remaining Canoes could go all the way to the Home Island to drop gold off for +1 or wait until El Almquista is empty to unload onto it again.

La Santa Isabel would be the flex ship in this fleet. Acting as an escort for the canoes, possibly getting gold from Wild Islands but also dropping off gold at the Home Island for +2 when it can. On the opening move it would either head out to protect the Canoes and get some gold on it or head to another Wild Island if the Canoes are in no danger of being attacked.

El Almquista would have the Native Canoes' Tribal Chieftain on board and be the main ship to unload at the Home Island. This way the Chieftain stays safe and one of the +2 treasure ships is always being fed gold from the canoes to get the bonus. Maybe towards the end of the game or in the event of an emergency would it venture out to get gold from Wild Islands on its own.

If left alone this fleet could generate a ton of gold very fast and would be difficult to stop after a few islands of gold had been gathered. If attacked right away, hopefully La Santa Isabel could hold them off or just be a deterrent long enough to get the needed amount of gold. This fleet has decent speed so that will also help it quickly and efficiently gather gold treasure to win the game. It would also hopefully save it from an all out blitz against it by a stacked fighting fleet.

The Uncommon Unique Treasure should help this fleet discover any surprises the enemy may have up their sleeves too. Since this is a fleet designed to get lots of gold quickly, it has a high chance of getting the UT.

As far as creativity goes, its main gimmick or ability is the +2/+1 gold bonuses on all of the ships (and it is a pure nation fleet too). Above average speed for these ships helps to get gold which is what wins games.

There's no real gunship, but with so many ships that can scatter to the wind it may not matter. I suspect you'd be able to get two or three loads of gold home before any one of your ships would be in serious trouble from a gunship.
