This is for the Rare fleet challenge.
I had a lot of ideas as usual for this challenge, but with only 3 helmsmen in play from 2 different factions, it was hard to justify NOT using one. I almost made a San Cristobal fleet, but instead went for the conglomeration of nation fleet you see below.
Leading the fleet is the uber powerful and OP HMS Grand Temple, employing pirates to get it up to scary status. Yes, I could have used Gunn instead of Cat, but I like having the two ladies on there, and so does Bootstrap.
The rest of the fleet makes up the treasure running, since the GT is full of cargo. The Bon Marin leads the charge, and would go for a further island, while the slow-but-basically-free-thanks-to-Commodore-Perry Annapolis would go to the closest and safest island, both because of speed and to protect Perry from capture. The Spanish contingent here on El Hambre would serve one of two purposes depending on the opposing fleet. She may be a kamikaze, and ram a ship that the GT can't get to, or more likely will shadow the GT to a further island and try to get gold there before the opponent.
I almost went with my favorite Aberdeen here, but I thought I would spice it up a bit =)
As for UTs, there are a lot of R submarines, so Dead Man's chest is a lifeline in case someone brings one in another fleet. Rum is a gamble - with no explorers and little helmsmen, it will almost certainly be worth 6 gold, so finding it will be key, but if the enemy gets it, hopefully the HMS GT can track it down. Kharmic Idol is there because there are so many nasty Rare UTs, it can be a life saver. Sure it could negate Rum if I have it, but the gamble is worth it.
Thanks for the challenge!
