My entry for the Rare Fleet Challenge!
My original idea was a little unoriginal, and revolved around the Akua Lapu. After taking a second look at the database and the few fleets posted early, I decided to change tracks.
The Cristobal might not be the most original idea ever, especially when paired with her linked crew, Victor de Alva. However, she brings blazing speed to the table, hopefully enough to get to an island ahead of competition. Here's where things diverge a little. The Cristobal will be looking for Silver, for her Silver Explorer, and hopefully an abandoned helmsman or two. If luck is with the Cristobal, she'll find both abandoned helmsman, keep one for herself, and give the other to her main helper, the Banshee's Cry. Once the first run of gold has been unloaded, the Cristobal can switch over to gunship/raider mode. By now she'll hopefully have a helmsman and be capable of her max speed, more than enough to get the jump on any 1 mast gold runner, or other capital ship.
The Cry comes into action with only Ragetti aboard, to help speed up the process of getting gold. She'll also keep an eye out for silver coins to give to the Cristobal, and for any Turtles .
After the Cry we have some of the cheapest ships in the game, which will spread to far corners of the map and hopefully be too spread out to hunt down effectively by competition, and/or provide meat shields for the more valuable runners. The third abandoned crew (a captain) will hopefully be found by the Rover, which will allow her to become a miniature gunship, and still keep her speed.
Since the Mermaid and El Raton have almost no cargo, the majority of gold running will be done by the Cry, Le Coeur du Lion, and Cristobal, before she switches over to her gunship role.
