This is my first fleet submitted here and I do understand that everyone is worried about the future of this website, but I said I would do the Rare Fleet Challenge so here it is.
The San Cristobal will be the flagship of this fleet. I understand this ship is probably over used, but I wanted to try doing a single nation fleet and try using one that didn't have a rare helmsman. I figured that the San Cristobal had the next best thing (not as good as having a helmsman due to it being exclusive to this ship). Now I was down to two captains to get this boost of speed, the first (and probably the most used) is Luis Zuan due to his uniquely cheep cost of two points for a captain. The second and more expensive choice is who I ended up going with ( Almirante Carlos Pavón y Miranda ) in order to combo his re-roll ability with Capitan Alarico Castro's SAC. Finally I added the most expensive crew in this fleet, Master Bianco, mainly for the cargo master bonus which will benefit all three ships in this fleet.
The second and third ships in the fleet are crew-less, one mast, treasure runners. Nothing too exciting, but you can't do too much with only seven points left over from the expensive flagship. That being said, these two little ships have decent speed with okay cargo (with an additional cargo space each thanks to Master Bianco).
I also added in some unique treasures to make things more interesting. Since I am using the Spanish I thought it would be fitting to use Blood Money as my ships are immune to it. Lost was put in to mix things up, I would just make sure to stay in the shallows. Lastly I included Maps of Alexandria so I could (hopefully) have a better idea where the Blood Money treasure is so as to hit the other islands first.
My plan with this fleet when I came up with it was to explore and run gold with the one masters, and give chase to other treasure runners or warships with the San Cristobal. Another thing I noticed after I put this together is that if Master Bianco gives the bonus to the ship he is on as well, the San Cristobal still has five cargo spaces to pick up gold from safe islands or capture from boarding.
This is only my second time making a single faction fleet in all the time I have played (I say time because I have played less than fifty), but I had fun making it and hope it is a tad original and at least somewhat competitive for the challenge I made it for.
