The invitation to the challange mentioned a possibility to have more than one fleet in the competition if it becomes nedessary - I simply give it a try. Maybe it becomes vice-champion of Europe.....
Focus of the Fleet
* Create a fighting force consisting of a pair with specific range restrictions for attackers combined with a strong all purpose ship destructing attackers one after the other, always focussing on the all purpose ship and the ship with the appropriate range restrictiosn helping versus a specific counterparty. Base assumption is that fleets here often seem to rather prefer L range vs. S range cannons. To avoid being stuck , the sll purpose ship need a combination of S and L cannons
* Fleets seem to rather go for less and concentrated high quality crew. These ships are predominantly manned with generic crew to have a broader base of ships with some benefits. If materializing as expected, purpose would be to rather concentrate on high quality crew members of the opponent first - assuming there are not too many Mycrofts sitting on HI docked ships.
Harbinger fullfills the definition for a 5 masted ship with different rang cannons and high accuracy of them.
Le Bonaparte can avoid attacks from within S. This fleet trys to combine that with the abilities of Jarvis which can not be attacked by L cannons. As mentioned above as per stats of the opposing ship the appropriate of the two plus Harbinger should take the oponennts out one by one.
Wodin is a Jolly Joker. It could be a goldrunner (obviously not buildt for that, but this is a game limited by masts and not by points) but could also give support to the three fighting ships as deemed appropriate. In case of strong individual crews from the opposing fleet its ability to conquer crew members could add further value.
HMS Lucy's Luck is another more expensive goldrunner under a point limitation. Not too easy to make her a derelict which should protect her a bit while hunting treasure.
Administrator Scott Bratley helps to increase the limit fro Crew from 25 to 30 Points.
All ships (potentially) going into fight will get Captain and Helmsman, which enables them to approach the enemy and shoot.
Captain Blackheart is the exeption to increase the power of Harbinger further. Two Oarsman and an Explorer stand by to help Blackheart using his ability if necessary. I understand that the oceans for this contest are free of mermaids.....
